I’ve decided to use semiotics approach to critique QQ, the most popular IM in mainland China.  QQ has tons of web-based services integrated in the same interface, but I think I’ll only focus on the IM functions.  I’ll explore how QQ is used among college students in typical Chinese campus culture, compare QQ with MSN, Gtalk, Twitter, and other related “texts”, *praying* I would get out of something value to say 10 pages 10 points single spaced …>< My fear is that I’ll mingle phenomenology(it is part of my lifeworld) and semiotics, in an inappropriate way.  I’ll try not to though.
